GLASGOW Warriors fans have chosen Ali Price as the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Season – the second time in three years that the 25-year-old has won the honour. Price, who has scored seven tries in his 18 appearances so far in this campaign, received his trophy at the club’s annual awards dinner at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow this evening (Wednesday).

“It’s a huge honour to win this award and I’d like to thank the supporters who voted for me,” the scrum-half said after being selected from a shortlist of eight players nominated by the coaching staff. “We’re excited to be in the Guinness PRO14 semi-final, but we have a lot of hard work ahead of us over the next few weeks. It would be amazing to play in the Guinness PRO14 Final at Celtic Park later this month in front of our own supporters, but our focus is on preparing for the semi-final in a couple of weeks.”

Rob Harley, who made his 200th Warriors appearance in January and continues to be a vital and versatile member of the pack, won two awards: the Denholm Oilfield Services Players’ Player of the Season, as voted for by his team-mates; and the Famous Grouse Coaches’ Award.

Scott Cummings was announced as the Mackenzie Construction Most Improved Player of the Season, and co-captain Ryan Wilson received the Al Kellock Leadership Award, sponsored by the Malcolm Group.

The SP Energy Networks Community Club of the Season was awarded to Lenzie RFC, with the judging panel recognising their “work in both competition and within their local community”. Lenzie have just been crowned champions of Tennent’s West Division Two with a perfect record of 20 wins from 20 games.
